Lost one today saw it disappear over my right shoulder, make certain that it is latched into position before riding.
....all the more so as I expect you have to buy that whole inner fairing section :-( My right-hand stowage compartment cover has never fitted as well as it should and since the panels were removed replaced for a new Dash it's worse than ever, just doesn't sit flush....looks crap!
Now where have I heard of panels flying off before....... oh yes common on the early ones too...... you have my sympathy Andy
Good luck with that!.........I tried to reduce / even out the gap between the front fairing and the tank side panels and my Dealer's had it apart a couple of times....no change!
Nope, you can buy the covers separately and they don't cost that much. Having had to buy almost everything to re-build my Cat C multi, I know that all the little bits and pieces can be bought individually. Even down to a single ball bearing that fits into a passenger foot rest recess!!
I was surprised at some of the prices. I bought a complete set of bolts for the bellypan for £11. In 2004 one fairing bolt for my Daytona 600 was a fiver!
Surprising but good to know......something sensible about a Ducati! :-O Doesn't look like you'll get your rebuild story back that you posted on Ducatisti :-( (a bunch of interesting comments re the demise of Ducatisti here;-)
Same happened here! Rode down the road, hit 40mph and flingo...off flies the fuse cover. Managed to stop (safely) on the pavement, and had a breathholding moment waiting for the cars to clear before picking it up off the road...I was lucky. Stickywicket...also i would like to know where you got the belly pan bolts. I have a medley of 4 different ones...
CAD169. Am I correct, you were the guy who rebuilt a multi (black one I seem to recal). I followed it on Ducatisti, but never saw the finished product...any chance of some more pics???
The inner left hand panels had been removed for access and the fuse cover couldn't have been latched it properly when it was re-assembled, best answer is check it check it twice and pray.
I noticed this when I picked my bike up new - mentioned it to the dealers but got no joy - very annoying when you're paying premium prices and have OCD!
I know what u mean... My fuse cover seems pretty good, but can't quite say the same for the other side cover cubby hole thing...!
