1260 Blistered Stator Cover

  1. What is the cause of this please?

  2. My guess would be that prior to being painted or coated there was some contamination on the part....should be a warranty item.

  3. The picture is a bit close up to see which part of the engine it is but it looks like an alternator cover with blistered paint, almost certainly due to the stator overheating. Most likely caused by a faulty regulator.

  5. Now I don't know whether to be relieved that it's not a symptom of something more serious (I hope) or peeved that "they all do that Sir" I'll take it in when I find time and see what they say.

  7. I was going to say don't always blame Ducati as I have seen some boot wear marks upset an owner who then repainted it themselves to look original, sold it on and the next owner say the ducati finish is shite

    Then...I noticed yours is a 1260 so hardly decades old

  8. Either it was contaminated prior to painting as CRFan1 says, or something has rubbed / chipped an edge and allowed corrosion to get under it.
    You may well find it will be replaced under warranty, depending on how sympathetic your dealer is (some may reject it out of hand rather than trying to claim on your behalf).
