S4r Crankcase Breather Valve

Discussion in 'Monster' started by laava, Feb 20, 2019.

  1. IMG_1256.JPG Went drag racing last weekend and it was a stinking hot day but I managed to get 18 runs in, the last four were back to back, and then my timekeeper lady pointed at smoke and dripping oil from my airbox drain pipe.
So, when I got home, I pulled the breather valve, and breather catch bottle plus breather hoses.
The top hose was cracked and perished at the bottle end, leaking onto the shock reservoir and tyre. Easy fix.
The breather valve was completely loose in the crankcase, about half a turn out from just nipped up. Easy fix.
When I removed the bottom clamp onto the valve and pulled the hose, about 50ml of oil spilled from the pipe.
Anyway, the valve itself came apart and it is all in good nick but does not have a drain hole to drain the oil back into the crankcase. I did a fair bit of googling and searching on here to see what other people have done and haven't seen any pics or reference to this particular valve.
Most seem to be crankcase reed valves and there is apparently a drain hole for allowing any oil in the breather pipes to drain back. Anyway, interested in peoples comments or suggestions before I go slapping the whole lot back together.

  2. That doesn't look like the standard breather valve to me. The OEM ones are crimped together, have a reed valve with a drain hole in them and don't come apart

  3. Ok, I did wonder...also wondered why it was choking up with oil...I know there are many solutions but I have scottish heritage so I will be shortcutting/bodging laddie!

  4. IMG_1261.JPG After a lot of researching, I cannot find another one of these anywhere on the pixelflood. It is however nicely made even if it is missing a drainhole. Which is fixable...
