Towards the end of last year, the thermal and Gortex laminated lining separate from the leather in one of the index fingers of my favourite pair of Strada C4 Ducati (branded) gloves. They were manufactured by Held and came with a 2 year limited warranty so being 18 months old, the gloves were returned to Ducati Silverstone who agreed that because they were 18 months old, they’d send them back for repair not replacement. Have to say I was okay with that because they had been worn on pretty much every ride in that time covering about 10,000 miles. Not sure why but Held sent my repaired glove back to Ducati Italy where it understandably disappeared into a black hole so when I chased the return, there were a few scratched heads. Anyway, the upshot is Held have supplied a brand new pair of Strada C4 gloves which now come with a 5 year limited warranty. Full marks and my thanks to both Ducati and Held. Andy
Good result that. My Sidi Gore Adventure boots gave up the waterproof ghost whilst in Iceland a few years ago. Over 2 years old they were; manufactures warranty 1 year said shop droid. Yes said I but Gore warranty their membrane for 5 years. New boots received. Top tip. Make sure you always cut your toenails. I kid you not. Big talons can damage inner liner of boots (apparently)!
Good result and great customer service . Did you have a receipt for them to prove how old they were. Thought about this the other day about my Kriega bag. Comes with a 10 year warrenty, but how do you prove when you bought it ?
The dealership I buy all my Ducati stuff from was able to confirm when I bought them without me having to wade through a file I keep with all my receipts in. When I bought my Rukka stuff from Infinity, the salesman advised me to photograph the receipt on my phone. Andy
Anything important I buy over £100 like intercomms, satnav, headphones etc I always use a credit card. So purchase will show on my statement. Some receipts I have after 2 years are barely readable.
Phone app like Evernote/OneNote or just a simple scanner app - then you can keep em as long as need and search em really easily as well. I have had a problem once with a photo of a receipt in one shop that will remain nameless, but I think it was a sales person with an aversion to being helpful rather than a policy.
