  1. Hi,
I've had a bit of trouble missing gear changes since I've had my Evo. Is this a Known problem and does anyone have any recommendations to avoid it? It's running on Motul 15w50 fully synthetic oil.
    Cheers

  2. Have you got a quick shifter?

  3. No. Bike is standard.

  4. Is it on downshifts or both? I’ve had issues since I had a healtech fitted and it’s a bit of a worry, mostly 4th to 3rd. Wondering if it’s a warped/worn set of couch plates meaning it’s not disengaging and is knocking the bike out of gear or something. Interested to know what gears you are struggling with

  5. It seems to be down shifts and I think 4th to 3rd.

  6. Adjusting the gear lever position helps. Try lowering it in stages until you find a position that improves things.

  7. I find with my 748 you just have to be a bit firmer than other bikes I ride .

  8. One of my friends says I need to stick PROD on my clocks :D. He has a 999.

  9. Check chain adjustment?

  10. Reset the splined gear selector mechanism.

  11. Worn selector forks.. Worn gear dogs..Worn drum..

  12. Well I just checked my chain and it's definitely too tight now :confounded:. Although the owners hand book says 31-33mm which doesn't seem possible to measure as it hits the swinging arm before measuring that much slack. I'll look into resting the selector mechanism. Nothing should be worn as its one done 4500 miles. Thanks for the tips.

  13. 31-33mm is the distance from the underside of the swingarm to the centreline of the chain pins. It's not a deflection measurement.
Could be lever position as that's solved a few case of missed gears, but the other likely cause could be the selector adjustment. If you lift the lever until you feel mechanical resistance, then push down until feeling the same, the distance travelled should near identical.
