Confession first - I did 5 miles between MOTs Please feel free to berate me, but I did injure my back last year. So, do bikes actually know they are at the MOT station? I had the last MOT slot at 11.30 today. Garage closes at Noon. Tester tells me my bike has failed and I will have to bring it back Monday when the fault has been fixed. Reason - no front near side indicator. Everything was working at home. Ask if I can have 2 minutes with bike. It’s a 999, so pop off the rubber bung and take the bullet connectors apart several times. Result - working indicator and MOT pass. Bloody dissimilar metals on the bullet connectors causing Verdi Gris.
It makes me laugh when I do mots and the owner tells me what's wrong with the bike before I've mot'd it. I'm like "why have you bought it in then?? " almost like there honesty will make me pass it!!
Had to do the same with my 999 front brake switch connector a couple of days ago. A spray with some contact cleaner and a good wiggling soon had it working again
The guy I got my 916 off used to take it to mot in a van then put it back in the van and take it home and not use it at all in between mots then take it back in a van to get it moted again 3 motd same mileage
