Clutch Issues Mts1200 2013

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by michel couque, Mar 24, 2019.

  1. Hi all.

Out today for a total of 265 miles. From about 50 miles on the biting point was moving and the clutch was generally being a PITA. It eventually went very light and from neutral would not select a gear without stalling.Stopped for a couple,of hours , bled the clutch a bit, got it so could engage gear, had to keep pumping the lever so it would go from neutral into gear and managed to limp home, again very light, no feel etc.

Can anyone suggest if this is typical slave cylinder trouble . I should add there are no visible signs of a fluid leak.

    Thanks in advance.

  2. Had identical problem with mine - Ducati fitted a new master cylinder to fix it.
p.s. there was no leak externally but pressure was being lost internally past seals.

  3. Sounds right.

  4. Strangely enough there can be a clicking sensation and noise coming from the piston area in the master cylinder.

  5. Common problem is the pivot point of the lever bolt. Mine requires servicing every 6 months or so as it seizes and does not allow the lever to return fully back to it's extended position.

  6. Have you tried removing and re-greasing this?

  7. No not tried that, will have a look, many thanks.

  8. Start simple, make sure the dynamics of what should work be fine. Guessing is for idiots.:upyeah:
