Hi there, I am looking for a Ducati Dealer, preferably, but not limited to location around Aylesbury. Who are willing to export Ducati at competitive prices without VAT. Looking for 1199/S/Tri/R, MTS1200ST/Skyhooks. Ex-Demo with VAT Qualifying welcomed. Please send an email to [email protected] if there are ANY dealers out there. I have already touched base Aylesbury dealer but would like more competition when it comes to pricing. Since I am not usually in UK, any recommendations by forummers or dealers themselves might reply. Thank you and have a great day. Cheers
Why can't you contact Ducati direct? They have dealers all over "Asia". Sounds like a scam to me
Thank you, I will get in touch with them soon. Thanks, I am sure you know that all "Asians" are scammers. Much like you might assume that Asia == China. Find a bone to pick with your house dog.
Not all Asians are not scammers. I'm suggesting you contact a "local" dealer instead of one thousands of miles away. So just wind your neck in
I am just looking at alternatives. If I had to get an R which costs GBP38700, why wouldn't I ship one back for less than GBP32000 with just a little hassle?
Importing multiple bikes for own use. If there is a market (amongst friends), I will bring some in for them but not looking to set up shop if that's what you are asking.
Because you will have to pay whatever local taxes and duties apply in the country you are sending the bike to plus shipping costs. If the local duties and taxes are less than the the 20% vat here then your local dealers in Asia should reflect that in their prices. You dont specify what the country is so I cant say what the local taxes will be and remember, the UK dealers dont get any benefit from charging vat, they just collect it and pass it along. If you are able to persuade a UK dealer that you are a legitimate vat free customer and if the Asian local taxes and shipping costs are far enough below the UK costs without the vat then go for it but get in touch with an international freight forwarding agent who will be able to arrange everything for you. Or is ET correct and it is a scam?
I am totally aware of the taxes incurred when importing the bike. I have a shipper ready. I have every single cost I will incur from the time it is bought and the time it arrives and is registered all accounted for. I would not need to defend myself whether its a scam or not. I asked a question, I got no reply, so that's it, end of story. You all have a nice day.

i think there was a guy on the 'old' forum out in Asia who bought his bikes here. Why? Because where he was, after tax a 848 came out at about 25k. Indonesia I think it was. By the time he'd imported the bike came out at about 15k.
Just sounded suspect to me. My experience in exporting and importing is that taxes and duty are levied by federal bodies to level things out. Or to protect local industries. I can't see that ducati would threaten local industries and therefore the import tax implications would be to protect the legitimate importing dealerships and would be aimed at levelling things out. So the idea of going to a UK dealer for several bikes smacks of something not quite right. I could be wrong but I bet I'm not. Not if everything is done correctly
The dealer where I am at is the sole dealer in my country and charges a huge overhead. This has nothing to do with ducati threatening local industries, this is just about the dealer capitalizing on fact that its the sole dealer. I have spoken to the governing body of tax, all relevant authorities and the shippers. I have done adequate calculations on all costs incurred, each entity is given a 15% increase as a margin for error. End of the day, the price of one imported is close to 10-15% lesser than what I would pay if I bought it from the dealer here (1199R). @El Toro, I appreciate your concern for the dealers being recommended to me that I may be a scam artist. You have your reasons for concern there's nothing wrong with it.
Thank you for the links. I will pay list if I have to, but that wouldn't stop me from sourcing for a good deal. Cheers.
I would guess that Ducati state what the RRP should be as they (not the dealer) control everything to do with the brand. If a local dealer is flouting the rules then I would guess that Ducati would want to know and would want to act to protect their brand and market.
errr Ducati dealer near Aylesbury? Have you tried Ducati Aylesbury themselves? Ducati Aylesbury, for new and used Ducati, clothing and accessories.
A guy on pistonheads called shanes exported two 848's. if I remember correctly the only way to do it was take the bikes apart and import as spare parts otherwise there was no cost advantage.
