Considering A Multi .

Discussion in 'Newbies Hangout' started by KTMKenny, Apr 7, 2019.

  1. On my 2nd GS (3rd BM) and have found them all better finished than a 2013 Multi for corrosion resistance. tbh the Ducati was terrible for rust on chain, all fasteners and exhaust. All bikes washed, cleaned, wd40/acf50 etc so well looked after. Standard Multi exhaust rusts without needing salt exposure. Great bikes, not something I would personally expose to a UK winter.

  2. If you still decide to buy, the age you're looking at, you won't be getting a warranty, so be prepared for big repair bills.

  3. No, they are not easy to service. And if anything goes wrong with it, you can be left in the lurch like I am with no easy way of getting it resolved. As nice as my DVT is to ride, it has been an ongoing repair job and I regret buying it.

  4. Apart from the service light, can the bike be serviced at home? I have never taken a bike to the mechanic in over 20 years of riding. It would break my heart to be honest.

  5. Probably the most difficult bike to service you can buy.
Apart from your basic oil change. Maybe you should consider the previous model, I wish I had.

  6. Any bike can have problems. My Dvt has been a pleasure to own in the three years from new. It’s probably been the easiest bike to live with I’ve ever had. No harder to maintain than any other bike. Keep an eye on the usuals and it should be sound. Once you’ve got it you’ll make it your business to get to know what’s what and who’s who if you need any info or a lift with owt. I had a scheduled service done at Rosso and it was easy enough and no more expensive than you’d expect.
    Perfect bike for Ireland imho.
