Crap Mirrors. At Last...............

Discussion in 'Supersport (2016 onwards)' started by steeve, Nov 23, 2018.

  1. If your bike is like mine, and I know they vary slightly my mirrors are pretty much a total waste of time. Anything above 30 and I cant tell what that blurr is behind me, over 45 than I cant see if there's anything there at all. Makes pulling ou to overtake a bit of a lottery...

But here's a little Christmas cheer, for now it's in the USA but I would hope it will spread to the UK soon.......
    Ducati Supersport Recall
Ducati North America is recalling 1,676 of certain 2017-2019 Ducati Supersport motorcycles because vibration may distort the images in the mirrors, reducing the driver’s visibility.

The recall announcement says the concern is that poor visibility in the mirrors may increase the risk of a crash.

[IMG]Ducati will notify owners, and dealers will replace the mirrors with new mirrors, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin January 7, 2019. Owners may contact Ducati customer service at 1-888-391-5446.

Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov . The NHTSA campaign number is 18V793000.

The is the second recall on the Supersport; the first recall was due to a risk of fire.

The modern Ducati Supersport was unveiled at Intermot in 2016, and reintroduced the iconic Supersport line that ceased production in 2007.

  2. I got a Re-Call letter from Ducati on Saturday but it was for the gear lever peg, hopefully we will get new mirrors also, but I guess most UK owners have not complained to Ducati about this

  3. I've read that America has already started their mirror recall.
Having had a set of new mirrors already, with no improvement. I hope the recall cures it at last.

  4. Wonder if they will do a recall for mirrors on other models? My 748 749 and ss ones all suck....

  6. I got that one too. I'm wondering is it something I can check myself to avoid spending the half day it takes me to get to my nearest dealer.

Or, if the mirror recall happens, I would be willing to spend the half day to cure that problem. It would be good roll both recalls together if possible.

  7. Hi.

Passed the Canadian message on the mirror recall to Glasgow Ducati and they replied to say that, as yet, no re-call in Europe. Weird since they make them here, eh?! Much appreciate if anyone would elaborate on what the gear lever peg issue is about and does it apply to all?

    Cheers

  8. I’d pay for the new ones if not available on recall here - std are shite

  9. This I got from a helpful guy at motocorsa in the US... “The newest part numbers for the mirrors (after many iterations) are 523S0617A and 523S0607A. However, at $256.00 (each!) I think getting them hoping for a substantial change is going to leave you disappointed”

He went on to say feedback on the new ones wasn’t great.

  10. For the fat Americans only then?

  11. Yup..........

  12. USA only, sounds about right - they got dodgy rockers replaced FOC on 916 models whilst Ducati UK denied there was even a problem...

  13. Guess where Ducati's largest market is????
