I Weighed My Hyper 1100 Sp Today

  1. Those batteries are witchcraft I tell thee...

I've got them in both my bikes and they seem to work very well. I've experienced no downsides at all regarding LiPo batteries. They seem to hold a charge ok and are more powerful (imo) than lead acid when topped up to healthy on a trickle charger :upyeah:

  2. Interesting about weighing either end and then adding the two together.
Can't help wondering if it would make it more accurate or what difference it would make if you can keep both ends level while doing it.

  3. It wouldn't be accurate enough to weigh just one end at a time and then add the two together. A lot of variables with angles and weight distribution. Physics being physics and all that ;)
The only sure way of being accurate is to measure both wheel weights at the same time using two scales.

  4. I had one on my Foggy Rep. couldn't believe the size of the one it replaced! Agree: witchcraft for sure! :)

  5. Weighing either end on a flat surface will give you idea of C of G. But obviously the two added together gives your total weight.

I remember a newly constructed oil rig being weighed before shipping in South Korea. They stick a fuck off hydraulic jack under each leg and lift it. The oil pressure is directly proportional to load. The indicated oil pressure from each jack is added together giving an accurate total weight.

  6. You can use one set of scales at a time. As long as the non weighing end is on a surface that is at the same height as the scales.

  7. What I was wondering is the difference between weighing on a level surface and weighing with the bike level.
I would expect lifting one end onto a scale to transfer some weight to the other end.

  8. Had a lithium battery in my hyper for the last 18 months...works a treat.

  9. The battery has been fine, mine is a JMT one. I've had no issues with it, I think I've done about 2500 miles with it so far. The bike had been sat in the garage with the battery fitted since the start of October until last Tuesday, I checked the indicator (which displayed full bars) and the bike fired right up!

  10. What are you guys using to charge your lithium batteries over the winter?

  11. ive got an optimate tender (about 55 quid on ebay).

  12. Got a JMT one here too (got a bluetooth monitor on it as well) so i can check on the health of the battery from my phone.

  13. Cool, thanks Andy. I have an Optimate, too. The JMT info says not to use a battery charge that has the deep charge mode. Something about the battery potentially exploding!!
Not sure if that's just a sales pitch to get me to buy one of their own chargers...

  14. IMG_0047.JPG I've now fitted the lithium battery and the BST wheels. The full tank, wet weight has dropped to just under 167 kg. Getting nimbler by the day ;)

Edit: also fitted the titanium front axle and the titanium rear axle nuts, too :)

  15. Good effort. Bet she feels nimble!

  16. Indeed. Especially on the new Michelin Power RS's. Super nice tyre and very confidence inspiring.

  17. Hand guards must be another kilo. Off the top too.

  18. Envious of the carbon wheels, hoonage!

  19. I’m jealous! How noticeable is the impact on handling on the hyper Turbo?

  20. Quite a noticeable difference, although the SP wheels are very light in themselves. I'm not sure of the weight of Super Corsa SP's versus Michelin Power RS's, but the wheel and tyre combo only saved a kilo per wheel. I was kinda expecting a bigger difference, but then it could be in the tyre, also. Maybe someone can chime in on tyre weights? (I did trawl in internet in the hope of finding a light tyre, but no luck).
However, the bike is so flickable now. It just loves corners and the feel from the tyres is anazing. My confidence in leaning through corners has increased, braking is even better and my fave - wheelies are so ridiculously easy now, so it's a winner.
I've got an aluminium subframe coming from the States soon (don't get me started on the Italians...), which will shed another 3-4 kg's of high up weight.
