Latest purchase is some Techspec Gripster Tank Pads to take the weight of my arms/wrists a bit on the daily commute. Went for the snakeskin finish (not as dodgy as it sounds!) top pic to the right below. Will get them fitted and post up some pics/review once done. Pic below (not my bike)
I had these on my Blade and they worked well. I cant see me using them on the 848 SF as my knees do not touch the tank but the front plastic area near the headstock.
Not having much luck with these. went to fit them today and peeled what I thought was the sticky back to the pad off and the whole strip of double sided tape came off! Now there is no way to fit the tank pad as the double sided backing is not in one bit sticky. i have emailed them to see if this is a fault but happy to fix the problem if its my fault. Does anyone know of a decent weatherproof double sided sheet that I could use to attach the tank pads? Any help much appreciated from this mechanically inept numpty! cheers
I had these on my Rc8 as do many others, sounds like a dodgy set you got there mate, I'd get them to send out another. if the adhesive they used hasn't bonded to the underside of the rubber that's their fault. theyre great by the way
Thanks for the replies. I must admit it did peel of very easily, so easily in fact that I only noticed the whole thing had come off when I was holding it in my hand! Hopefully the store where I purchased them will be understanding and get it sorted out for me. I have emailed the store and the manufacturer. Will keep you updated. Cheers
Next time you peel of the plastic sheet on the backing make sure they are at room temperature, this makes them much more pliable to fit to the bike also.
Update. Well I heard back from the store who admitted the item must have been faulty and would post a replacement out the same day with some freebies to make up for it. Great! Or so I thought that was last Tuesday and no sign of any replacement in the post and no answer to my emails..... Will give it a couple more days and if I still haven't heard anything will try and find out what my rights are and what I can do about it.
Hi Pete thanks for that. They do improve grip on the tank and IMO look pretty good also. I would add that the rear of the tank on the sf is quite narrow so you do have to squeeze your knees in a bit to get them to grip well but they definitely help take a bit of weight of the wrists. Cheers
Hi Bradders. Fair play each to their own and all that. I happen to like the way they look and maybe the pics I posted don't do them any favours. I can also appreciate that what's good for some may not be so good for others. Cheers
I've also thought of grip pads for the 999, but the stomp variety, however what puts me off is the thought of removing them when they start to look manky.
Techspec are removed with ease, they simply peel off for cleaning as they have a glue which is more akin to blue-tac.
