Long and boring story in précis: after purchasing (or so I thought...) an alloy subframe from Italy (Febur) and waiting months for it not to arrive, I contacted DM Telai to see whether they could make me one. Again, they wanted the money up front without confirming a delivery time. After numerous emails they gave me a lead time of at least three months. So I trawled eBay and found a new one for sale in the US. Now it did cost me an extra few quid in duties, and it was friggin' red anodised, but at least it arrived a week later. Being the impatient chap I am, I had to fit it before painting it black. Probably a mistake in retrospect, but I'll live with the bad taste for a while. For those of you wanting to know how to fit it - it's about a two hour job and requires the petrol tank to be removed, unless your are an octopus. It's fairly straightforward, no real hassles. And, you can notice the weight difference on the road. Original weighed 4.1 kg. Alloy was 1.3 kg. Another almost 3 kg pared off the Hyper. I must re-weigh the old girl soon as I may be at the 165 kg range with a full tank of fuel! Matt
Good effort! The weld and general quality looks good from the pic and the weight saving is superb. Was the US one a one off or a company stocking them in the event I take the plunge...
Just found this place.... http://www.feburstore.com/it/telaie...motard-796-1100-2007-2012-.html#/colore-rosso
Quality (DM Telai) is 100%. I bought from a private seller, so a one-off. The Italians do my head in. Period
