Bemoto Travel Insurance

Discussion in 'Touring' started by panigale66, May 22, 2019.

  1. Did a quick search yesterday on some travel insurance for when I go to Ireland in July Bennetts where ranging from £15-£25 depending on which cover you require, thought I would give BeMoto a call this morning to see what they could offer and the robbing bastards wanted £250 for the same cover, bike insurance run by bikers my arse!

  2. Bemoto have been great for me the last 3 years, although I just insure my bike with them and that includes overseas cover.

When you say travel insurance, do you mean insuring your bike whilst overseas? Or more typical travel insurance? As in you're going on holiday and you need medical, baggage cover, that type of thing?

  3. Just typical travel insurance and I didnt insure my bike with them because they were super expensive on that as well

  4. I didn't even know they did that, just thought they insured vehicles

  5. Try Holidaysafe :)

  6. Changed over from ducati insurance few days ago too bemoto; including my 10-years NCB. I also didn't know they provided travel insurance policies, how many people were covered for £250?

Bizarre my search came up with zilch for travel insurance; although trackday travel insurance & repatriation service was listed. Seems to make sense really when you fathom that using a road bike for trackdays voids your insurance coverage. Which is why people often get 'towed' a mile or so away from the track they've crashed on. To then claim they have had an accident with a deer et cetra. But insurance companies now request registration of vehicles used close to these incidents if a known location has these facilities. And these companies are obliged to hold clients details for payment of armco & oil spills.

  7. Try your Bank , I get travel insurance and breakdown cover with my account.

  8. Bemoto's titanium policy imho is well worth it.

RAC Breakdown Cover (UK & Europe) Available for motorcycles and trikes (but not quads):
    • Roadside Assistance
    • Recovery
    • At Home
    • Onward Travel
    • European Breakdown
So other than doing a trackday abroad, you are covered for the bike been brought home in the worst case scenario.

  9. Just me for a week! I pay less to insure my panigale for a year

  10. Be careful with this one. I'm with First Direct and have their Firstdirectory product which gives Travel ins and breakdown cover amongst other stuff. The travel Ins only applies to bike riders if you leave the country on the bike. Travel separately from your bike and no cover.

Good value if your own cars and travel a lot.

  11. These free breakdown schemes usually only cover newer vehicles too...

  12. I spent most of the other day looking and researching this very topic. Went with the Niche policy offered by Holidaysafe. Andy

  13. I've used the Holidaysafe Motorcycle Travel Insurance for the last 5 years or so.

Fortunately I've never had to claim so can't comment on how good the insurance actual is - but it has provided me with exceptional piece of mind :)

  14. Holidaysafe for me too this year. My Mutley 1260S is insured with BeMoto who were a pleasure to deal with and offered me a better deal than anyone else I tried when I insured it last July. At the time I had two other bikes I included in the insurance which was too hard for some others to understand.

  15. Frontal lobe?

  16. Everyone looks at the cover and the price. The reality is, until you claim, you have no idea.
    1. I have BeMoto track repatriation for NL overseas track days. Whilst in Philip Island my Dad had a stroke, so I had to get home quick. Cost me an extra 1200 quid. To claim that back I have to prove he did not die of a pre-existing ailment. Any idea how difficult that is....?
    2. I binned it at Aragon three weeks ago. As usual everyone in the garage tried to help out, thank you. Someone said BeMoto covers leathers for damage. Indeed they do, up to 1500 quid. BUT, only if you can produce the original purchase receipt. You all got yours of course.
Before you buy, ask the insurer if they use an external claims firm. These people are configured and probably incentivised to wear down your motivation to see a claim through.
So there you are. You are covered. Just don't ever claim.
