I have a hypermotard for more then 12 years. the first time I ever heard about the horseshoe Personally I like it.
I do believe my cryptic messages have gotten dissolved in the travel across the pond. Allow me to reintroduce this topic. Here is a picture of the “horseshoe”. Now the name may not have made the trip to those in the U.K. and frankly, it matters not. What does matter is that many, and I do mean MANY, consider to be as unattractive as stink on a monkey. That said, has ANYONE that may consider it ugly, thought about its removal? If so, what options have you entertained? I am thinking of a full wrap around from the side covers up to the tail as a replacement. View attachment 156575
When I first sat on a 950 I didn't like the “horseshoe” either but having owned mine for a couple of months I’m not so bothered about it. An Italian farrier will almost certainly make something carbon to replace it in the next year or so....
On my bike its made of such wobbly plastic i expect it'll remove itself before too long anyway. I'm definitely on the lookout for a more attractive replacement
Ooooh, nice one. I’ll look forward to seeing the final result. What’s that stuff you’re making the plug from? I presume it stands down easy?
On Monsters there was a "Tea Tray" at the rear; considered by many to be extremely unsightly. Many rushed to remove these from their bikes, to reveal a "clean & tidy" rear. It can be done well; but removing the Tea Tray (or Horse Shoe) in haste guarantees you will be soaked and dirty everytime you ride in the rain.
