The “R” Horizontal valve cover is different. It has a tap to install the oil cooler. I have one lying around, need to look for it. At one time I had three 748R’s, so still have some spares It’s a new Ducati part. Can ship it to you if you want it. Cheers Nick (Netherlands)
As Nick says, the horizontal has the tap offs for the oil cooler bracket and the 2 threaded holes for the v panel fixings. Oil cooler now sorted thanks to @bettes!
I’ve already got one fitted, but there’s a crack in one of the mounts for the v panel, so before repairing this one i thought it would be better to replace it if possible and keep mine as a spare. Not sure what’s caused it, possibly something hitting the v panel while I’ve been out?
I dropped you a PM, Nick. I bought a 916 valve cover recently from the Netherlands, without realising they are bigger than the one for the R. I’ll put that back on eBay to see if I can recoup some cost
