Led Indicators

  1. Hi all, I'm sure this issue has been posted many times, but here goes.
LED indicators fitted and they flash at the correct rate but bright dim not on off.
When they are dim the repeater on the clock I'd the idiot light is on but very dim. The indicators are bright when the idiot light is off and dim with idiot light on....dimly on that is.
Decent quality flasher unit fitted from wiz bits.
I know you lot will know the easy fix. Cheers.

  2. What bike? From about 2003 onwards the flash of the indicators was controlled by the dash and not by an indicator relay.

  3. It's a 2001 monster with a separate two pin flasher relay.

  4. It's because the idiot light is wired across the left and right flasher circuits. Normally when the RH flasher is on the idiot light earths through the LH bulbs and vice versa for the LH side on. This is interfering with the operation of the LEDs which only require a very small current.
The cure is to earth one side of the idiot light and take supplies from both LH and RH side flasher circuits through diodes to the other side. It's probably easier to fit a ballast resistor to each side.
