Discussion in 'Newbies Hangout' started by joe gardias, Jun 4, 2019.

  1. always wanted a 916 since I first heard that boom.
life gets in way, other interesting things to do, but now the time is right.
So by hook or by crook, I'll find myself a nice analogue bike to play on.
most powerful thing in my stable right now is about 375 watts.... me.JPG

  9. Oh a bit of criterium racing, not bad at it, the green bike is a Colnago ( Italian premium brand ) that I was given to race. Likely worth more than most motorbikes ! I reckon I'd get down the Galibier faster than most :)
Medal and jumper dished out for being the best old man in the UK. Got 9th at he worlds a week earlier.
I'll still race cycles, but need a new outlet with two whooping great cylinders and a boom. For the price of a set of cycle wheels I could get a R1 or somesuch, but just doesn't interest me at all, nor does LED, Traction control all digital...… I want a wire to the throttle, gauges with needles and wheels you can lock. Think LC350 but grown up.
I'll let you all know how I get on.
Looking at gear, helmet, leathers etc.... what fun.

  13. Welcome, old school all the way.

My pushbike has mechanical Campagnolo (unfortunately not attached to Colnago) - none of this electronic jiggery pokery here :upyeah:

Anyway, who is a good dealer for gear, helmets, leathers etc ?

  19. Internet is your friend - I'm not really too useful as I haven't bought anything for 'n' years.... :astonished:

  20. Tons of vendors online, there’s cheaper sellers in Germany much like Bike24, Starbike etc for cycling. You really need to try stuff on though, especially helmets, it’s just easier to go to a shop and do that. If you’d rather not, Infinity Motorcycles have free and easy returns via UPS so you can try a few things. They aren’t the cheapest, but they do loyalty discounts depending on how much you spend each month. Your best bet really is to go to a big shop that stocks various brands until you know your size for each brand, eg I struggle to get my cyclist legs into Alpinestars but Dainese works for me.
