Having recently been to see the lyrical genius, master showman, and living legend that is John Otway, I was listening to his album "Ot Air" on the old MP3 thingy. I am willing to be corrected here, but I reckon he is the only person in the history of music to use the word "hyperventilate" to rhyme with "circumnavigate"... Does anyone else know of unique rhymes ?
I don't remember that one (and I should - know the 3 albums almost by heart). Remind me what comes next (if you dare).
Oh little Flo, I love you so Especially in your nighty When the moonlight flits across your tits.... Oh Jesus Christ Almighty!
I believe genesis used the phrase, "Harold the barrel cut off his toes and served them all for tea" not sure of the rhyming qualities of that ... but perhaps, most fondly: "he's getting very old now, but he's a good mouse, I don't know why I call him Gerald?" along with the perennial "I've got a bike, you can ride it if you like, it's got a basket and bell, that rings and dings to make it look good" Sid Barrett
"It was closing time at Dirty Dicks A matelot stood at the door A shot rang out The lights went out A woman screamed and her guts fell out And I came out.. fuck staying in there"

@ Mr R - Saw him in The Pally in Bideford a few weeks ago. Have seen him lots of times in lots of places - have been a fan since I first heard "Headbutts" over 30 years ago. The man is an absolute star ! "Beware of the flowers, 'cause I'm sure they're gonna get you... Yeah !"
"MC Trainspotter, that's me... Yo there homeboy, wanna cup of tea?" From "Cheryl, a rock Opera" *(John Otway & Atilla the stockbroker)
I'd give it to you if I could, but I borrowed it. You're the kind of girl that fits into my world I'll give you anything Everything if you want things The man was on the insane side of genius. Early Pink Floyd was some of their best and it's part of pop lore that one night, on the way to a gig, Roger and Dave decided not to pick him up on the way because he'd been behaving too erratically. Shine on you crazy diamond
