Any Ride With An Agv Corsa R Helmet ?

  1. I'm struggling with the dreaded buffeting, does anyone ride with an AGV Corsa R helmet?

I tried my old AGV Tech helmet and it was a lot better so thinking of getting rid of the Shoei NXR in favour of the Corsa R.

  2. There are quite a few threads on here under buffetting, most seem to be about the screen types and height and spacers fitted to the screen too

Yeah, I’ve got the t-shirt on screen types tried I think - standard, touring, Puig sport, Puig touring, power bronze sport, no screen .... all with Spacers / no spacers / custom spacers.

Also tried Seat high / seat low.

3 different helmets, best so far the AGV and the Corsa is very similar design to the AGV GP Tech with pointy front that cuts through the air.

  4. The AGV Corsa is a race helmet designed to minimize cavitation and flow better in a 3/4 to tuck position.
A Touring helmet would be best for an upright seating arrangement such as the Multi. Moreover, it would be quieter.
Not sure if this will help or not the buffeting issue of the STD screen.
The short Pikes Peak screen does not have any buffeting.
However, Wind Flow combined with the helmet's Angle of Attack will now come into play.

  5. I see my thread has ben moved from Multistrada to clothing. The reason why i asked in the Multistrada section was because the buffetting is a multistrada trait that other ducatis dont suffer from, so iunless you ride a Multistrada then please ignore the question, thanks anyway.

  6. Why do multistrada owners think it’s just them that’s affected? Buffeting is a general trait. Try another bike, you’ll understand it a bit more

  7. I have been riding bikes for the past 35 years, over 20 machines, i have NEVER suffered buffetting on any bike but i do on the Multistrada. Its so bad i get double vision because of the turbulance from the screen. That is not a "general trait" of riding a bike.

  8. Could be that the ergonomics of the multi don’t suit you specifically?

Turbulence can and does affect all bikes, all helmets, and all riders......hence the reason it was moved to a more suited section where more riders other than (allegedly persecuted) multi riders can benefit.

  9. Some helmets are more noisy. Buffeting and turbulence are due to bikes aerodynamics. The screen, distance to screen, nose cone etc all affect it. A different helmet may be quieter and might pick up less turbulence. It won’t fix the turbulence though.
    Could try a vario screen?
Had one on my 2013. Didn’t eliminate it but changed the resonance.
I found touring helmets better, as mentioned above. Also some of the sport types come very close to the bottom of the ear, so sound worse. Worst buffeting ever was k8 gsxr 1000 with double bubble screen and flat bars. With standard bars there was no buffeting.
DarR mentions PP screen, some have used them to good affect. Less wind protection but the rider is in clean air.
Spent fortunes on bikes, helmets and screens over the years and I fixed the problem by buying a GS!
Worst bikes for buffeting Fz1, gsxr converted, Multi....

The new Shoei was fantastic on my old GSXR-750, worst on the Multi, double vision as i say. The Arai i get a "shhhhhhh" as the wind flows past, hardly any buffeting. The AGV the best on the Multi.

As you can see i have a lower smaller screen fitted, its my 5th Screen, all with / without spacers. Funnily with no screen the Shoei is brilliant, but even with minimal screen the whole experience takes a turn for the worst. Frustrating.
