Slipper Clutched Spring Broke...again!!

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by Connor, Jun 21, 2019.

  1. The ducati performance slipper in my 999 has snapped the spider spring again, this time it's also made a bit of a mess! Anyone else has these snap? I'll need to change it now anyway but I don't fancy anything 'Ducati performance', really had bad luck with their products.

    Anyone selling a clutch?

  2. looking at the condition of it... poorly maintained and poorly set up, thats why the spring breaks!

  3. Bit of a mess that!
Have you ever greased the spring tabs to help them slide?

  4. Had one go in about 3 years....yeah - as the others have said....looks dry as a bone so id say (and dont take the wrong way..) id say you were asking for it....slipper clutches need a strip down, clean and grease every 1k or so.

  5. You also need to ensure that the slipper has caused the clutch to disengage (and the inner to stop rising) before the inner has risen up the ramps and stressed the spring too much. That’s what breaks the springs. Pay close attention to clutch pack height.

  6. Yes I've greased them about 1000 miles ago :(

  7. Where can you find the specs on the pack height?

  8. It's done a trackday and about 700 road miles since its last spring clean, how often should it be looked at? Didn't realise it was quite as fragile!

  9. Looks like you have an open clutch cover, if it got used frequently in bad weather then that’s cancelled out the lubrication and given the appearance that it’s been neglected maybe.

  10. more often than running around with it not operating properly and doing nothing til it breaks.

  11. I do mine every thousand and mines never looked that dry..! edit - having said that mines not done a track day so i may be speaking out of turn...

  12. Someone on here will know. I had a Sigma Performance one. The pack height recommendations were part of the instructions that came with it.

  15. The bike came with the clutch so I've never had any documentation, I'll have a gander and see what I can find :)

  16. It's never used in rain for that very reason!

  17. Hi, I’ve got a clutch for sale, or just the parts you need.
    Text mail or pm me.
    Kev.
