Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Thomas Blum, Jun 5, 2019.

  1. Ducati weren't that understanding when the exhaust flappy valve thing seized on my Multistrada 3 week's out of warranty they didn't want to know shit customer service

  2. With respect you should not have had a working flappy valve thing for that long, should have been removed or disconnected years before.

  3. “Looking fantastic” is a little bit of a stretch!!

  4. I had a multiple ECU freakout at 21000 miles, a year after the (extended) warranty expired. Ducati paid for all the parts (several ECUa AND a new electronic Ohlins shock), I just paid the labour. (Not cheap at 600 quid) still, seemed fair enough.....and good customer service.

  5. Happy to report that Ducati picked up the tab in the end (though I did have to pay for the labour but that's okay) .

    Thanks for your contributions everyone!

  6. I have recently put a post up about the steering lock not working. Which I was happy to live with until the dealer could fit it in.
Last night on the way home from work I had the same issue as discussed in this post. Everything cutting out and no activity on the dash. Bike would not power on from either the fob or emergency button. After several attempts it did power on but there were alsorts of issues with the dash indications. Also it was noted that rear hazards and the rear taillight were flashing. Eventually after 20 minutes at the roadside it did power on ok and got home.

This morning went for a blast and the same happened. Managed to get it to restart and got to the dealer. They plugged it in and got about 15 pages of error codes. The technician thinks it is the BBS unit and will order one. Unfortunately it has to come from Italy. I said that there is also an issue with the hands free unit as the stearing lock doesn't work but insist the faults are not related and will deal with the steering locan issue later as this is not a five minute fin. Obviously this is worrying as in this post it seems that the issue was the hands free switch.

I an due on a ferry Wednesday morning to go to France. To say I am gutted is an understatement. Fingers crossed the bit turns up on Tuesday but I am not confident and also concerned that the handsfree unit could be the culprit.

I will attach a couple of videos showing the rear lights and also the dash sequence

  7. Man I'm sorry to hear that. In my case, it took over a week for the part to arrive from Italy which is a joke in itself. Haven't had any problems since so hope you'll be fine after it was replaced but sorry that you will probably miss your trip.

I really hoped that Audi buying Ducati would have done a wonder in terms of reliability but guess I was wrong...

  8. Thanks. I am fearful that the bit will not arrive in time but also that the the dealer isonly ordering the BBS unit. When asked to order both their response was they can't do that without approval front Ducati as the two parts will be over 1200 pounds which I can understand.
When yours played up did you also get the rear indicators and brake/ stop lights flashing. Also was it just the handsfree switch they replaced or was it multiple parts?

    Thanks

  9. My 1260 PP for the second time in 2000 miles just cut out for no reason. I was just going over a roundabout & it just stopped. I went down twice to try to bump start the bike to no joy. Then stranded on the roundabout I just started it first time & never played up again. Bike in Monday as the dealer said it could end in a bad way so here’s hoping they find the problem this time as before it didn’t show up on the test.

  10. An update.
On Monday I spoke with Ducati UK. I guy called time was very understanding of my situation and agreed to expedite the shipment and provided the tracking number so I could check progress.

Arrived at the dealer this morning at half ten. By 12 the dealer had fitted, completed a 20mile test ride and informed that the bike was ready for collection.

Massive shout out to Ducati Alton and Ducati UK for there efforts to get the bike repaired and back for my holiday
