Having problems starting at the moment will crank but not fire and battery dies quickly. Anyhow was checking the cables around the battery box and was thinking about upgrading the starter and earth cables while I'm in there (what a crap place to put it all). If anybody has done it, do you run the cables in parallel to the existing ones. The starter sol to stater motor is ok as it's a single cable but the battery to starter sol and the engine earth seem to be crimped to other cables and I don't fancy ripping then apart.
Hi mate, have u checked eBay for the upgrades as they are a reasonable price and quite easy to fit and a very good mod
I changed all of mine but on the later ones its not as easy as you would think. There are quite a few cables , especially earths , so they have to be removed from the terminal and re crimped / soldered into the new earth . These go into the loom so theres no choice but to do this . I wired in a heavy duty kill switch whilst I was on so that I can turn all electrics off whilst its parked . Had no problems since.
Thanks for the replies. I think I'll look into it a bit deeper. I had hoped it would be a simple swap over. I can't see how the eBay kits can be a straight swap when I look at my wiring.
