Which running/cycling app? iPhone.

  1. Hi,

A few runners and cyclists on here, so wondering what app best on the iPhone for tracking runs and cycle rides.

Using Garmin Fit, but seems to lack accuracy - last run it charted me as doing 7.5km in 13 mins! Looked at the map, and it had loads of zig zags on a very straight run.

Free is best, but happy to pay a few bob for a very good app.

    Thanks,

    Pete

  2. Endomondo is pretty good

  3. +1 for Endomondo

  4. I use garmin fit and it seems to be ok for me. No help from me there then!

some of the cycle forums I look at suggest Strada, but that might cost a little bit. Have a look at 'pedal powered' forum on piston heads, that's quite good for a source of info, and this question is quite popular IIRC( not quite up there with 'tax disc' , but not far away.....)

  5. Bike Tracks - made by the same people who did Ski Tracks - is pretty good.

  6. I used Cyclemeter and Strava on my iPhone for cycling until I bought a Garmin Edge 800. Both worked well and were pretty accurate, but Cyclemeter was the better of the two.

  7. A few friends use the Garmin and different models and they all rate them highly, I use the app Runmeter on my Iphone, the only blip i had was on one long run i ran 32K in 1hr 40 minutes???. No that was not on the bike either, i run four times a week training for the London Marathon.

  8. I use an app called 'cyclemeter', seems ok for my forest off road excursions, it was probably free

  9. +1 Endomondo.

    Walkmeter app good

Garmin devices excellent if set up correctly.

  10. I use Trail Guru, it's a free app and gives quite a lot of useful info as well as a Google Maps link you can share.

  11. Map my ride and map my run, work pretty well. I also use Viewranger, so outdoors walking as you can create or download other' trails and follow them

  12. Thanks for the recommendations, have ditched Garmin and gone for runmeter - seems to work pretty accurately so far, but may try some of the others out over the next few weeks.

  13. Run keeper on the iPhone and its free

  14. Strava for me, love the way you can create segments and also trophies are good at motivating your ass !

  15. I use CheckMyTour on the iPhone which is good for bikes walking and even did a good job of a boat trip I tool last year. It provides a map of where you've been with stats like max speed, average speed, distance travelled, min & max altitude, and temperature. Best of all its free
