Thank you. Will consider a hearing change. Don’t think the demonstrator had this issue by the way. Can you explain the throttle spacer solution please.
2017 and older Multistrada do not require spacers. However, the throttle assembly on the Panigale, Monster, Diavel and a few other models including the new 1260 Multistrada have a certain amount of play before opening. The spacer(s) removes that slack for a direct throttle response off-zero. Here's a post from Kevin's old website on the topic: Ducati was required by European lawmakers to engineer some slop into throttle, with the assumption that it would be "safer", much like the slop in a traditional cable setup. There's absolutely no benefit for this slop in a ride-by-wire setup, and it only creates difficulty in applying smooth throttle input. Check out this image below for further confirmation:
Thank you for this explanation. It’s possible to see the pin which is connected to the throttle tube and turns the potentiometer has play allowing this slack in the movement. I considered that this just a badly engineered solution and was thinking of a home made fix. Only after my dealer said that they thought it was ok, but disappointed in that but I think might pursue them further. It’s a relief to hear the explanation because this issue is spoiling a bike that l really enjoy in all other aspects. Finally, how or where can I obtain this spacer.
Forum members usually get a small discount. Ask. BTW, many other vendors offer a discount of some sort. Evotech Performance does as well.
I've got unopened spacer set for 1260 if you want it. you can have it for £20. horses for courses but i decided that i was looking for solution to a problem that i didn't have. cheers
Changed the front sprocket on my previous 2013 Multi but wondering about the +2 on the rear on my 1260. Was it necessary to change the chain to accommodate the +2 rear and best place to get the sprocket from? Cheers.
Ah!. You opted not to use the solution to the problem you didn't have and consequently are now offering the unused solution at a discount price to those that have the problem that you thought you had, correct?
I had to change the chain. Bought a 120 links which was shortened to 116. FYI, the stock 1260 chain is 114 links. I wanted only a solid steel 42T sprocket. I purchased for Carpimoto in Italy. https://carpimoto.it/en-CA/49483_50...eel-Rear-Sprocket-Ducati-Multistrada-1200.htm Quick review: This is how the 1260 should have been delivered. I would never go back to the stock 15/40 gearing. Expect all throttle delivery to be elevated where the Sport mode is now "Super Sport" mode. Throttle Spacers will really help here. PS. I now have a 114 chain and a 40T OEM sprocket with only 600 miles on them for sale.
Yes, thank you, I will take you up on that. Text me your bank details on and I will transfer you the cash along with my address. Thanks Mike
I dont have a 1260 and have not been able to ride a demo as yet. I do have a 2016 1200S with performance mods ( Akrapovic headers, etc.) I do have some slop in my throttle tube (unlike my S1000XR or K2600GTL) and find it a real pita for smoorh throttle control. Waiting patiently for 1200 throttle spacers. I also changed out the drive train for a quick change rear sprocket (+2) and replaced the chain with a 525 chain and new front sprocket. Made the bike much better , responsive to throttle changes & more agressive acceleration. I'm not pleased that the 1260 appears to suffer from the same gearing issues. Thanks to all the 1260 Guinea pigs......
