had a couple of straightline plays on the way back. Panamera 4s thought better of it the second time I booted it The S7 was in the wake and not happy when I let him pass..,,but the Evora I couldn’t shift from 70-140 in kick down...but the. It’s 60% of the weight and 25% more power The old M3 didn’t look happy away from the lights in camberley.... But this thing absolutely flies when booted. Had the worst journey ever back today, so something had to entertain me!
The only car that wouldn’t play the 70-140 game, and would have slaughtered me, was the teslas I came across. I would have had to stop twice in the journey from cochem to Calais for juice, and built in another couple of hours to what was a 6hr journey anyway! (Normally 5 is on bike with fuel stops)
Interesting Bradders! I have an Alpina D4 Biturbo, which is frankly scary at full chat ! It’s a torque monster, engine is limited to 700NM so as not to eat the gearbox
Yes i think so, 749er had his 640d mapped and loved the result. There is an 800nm map for the Alpina, but i think it’s quite scary enough with 700!
That looks super nice @bradders . Teslas are a funny one. Every Tesla I met on the the road to and from Nurburgring this month wanted to drag race me presumably to say they were faster than a Porsche! Not one of them was prepared to follow me into a corner!!
I assume they had just fully charged it or were close to a station lol The 4s was probably most surprised tbh, he romped up my arse at 90 and sat 2 cars away. I could t go anywhere and it slowed with traffic to 7o...he was then 1 car away... so I paddled down two gears and booted it, car dropped another! And my missus suddenly said ‘I think 140 is enough Paul’ and he was not catching...more traffic, he stayed way off my tail and when I booted past the car pulling in he didn’t even get to 80...either I missed something or he was still removing from being done my a diesel lol I went back to 80 (wasn’t sure about the lamp sensor/camera things) and he then came past about 90 as if in no rush...he was a few miles back Totally childish but gave me a grin
435 d or i? I’ve driven a 340i for the last 3 years, it’s an absolute weapon. The engine is just perfect. I don’t think I’ll ever want to change it
That was supercar performance 20 years ago, you’d have had to hand over a hundred grand to an Italian dealership for a for a sub 5 vehicle back then. It’s amazing how far engine technology has come on over such a short space of time
Its the performance combined with economy that boggles my mind! I actually get more than 40mpg ! Worst i’ve managed was about 36, and that required some serious effort :-O
Haha yeah, my 340 does 40mpg minimum on the motorway, 45 is easily doable. Better economy than my 899!
