1260 Ducati Multistrada 1260 V4 !! 190hp

  1. the rider can get the 1200 DVT into huge amounts of trouble with speed as it is.

    Sorted for you!

  2. I also can’t see how a V4 version will be anything other than heavier than the V2. The V2 is already pretty heavy.

  3. Biot, you missed a few ;) :
Better wind tunnel development so we don't all end up deaf,
stronger / better hand guards, so if they get broken the bike is still rideable,
cubby box back up the front somewhere again like the original 1200s had,
better under seat storage for compressor / decent puncture repair kit / useful tools (removing the annoying bulge on the underside of the pillion seat would be a start),
    optional heated touring seats,
optional central locking of panniers & top box :)
Better bike security (e.g. steering lock that can't be broken so easily, be able to lock the transmission so it can't be wheeled away)

I think the way the GS panniers expand at the rotation of a lever would be really handy too, for the times a bit more storage would be handy when on a trip for the way home.

  4. Bring it on.... sure bound to be some bits that don't work properly but it's a Ducati, we expect that.
Why not have 190 BHP, nobody complained when the second generation of the mutley came with a 150BHP compared to the dalakes 84 BHP.
Sounds like a winner to me, obviously if you don't want the full fat version then lower model will appeal to those.:upyeah:
If you want tank range then buy a GS :p

  5. Duke, it could well end up heavier, which would be a shame.
Mind you the Pani V4S is apparently only 10lbs heavier than the 1299S (half of that is the engine).
I think I could put up with that if I had to.
The difference between a base 1260 and an S is 3kg, which I can't notice. The enduro is a further 16kg heavier again (dry weight, so not due to additional fuel weight which pushes it up again).

  6. I want a bigger tank on something I can look at and not cry .... (I believe that Italian designers can definitely find 2-4 more liters of space without compromising the looks ... I am not looking for a 35 liter tank)

  7. I found the cubby hole really useful on my 11plate Mutley
It got lost due to heat sinks for led’s taking up the space.
The BMW GSA has a very useful ‘ashtray’ cubby hole on the tank forward of the filler.
As for expanding panniers. I rarely expand my side cases on my GS. The top box is permanently expanded as I can just about get my C3pro in.

  8. Yeah, If I had to I would settle for more power too. Thats what the throttle is for - use as much or as little power as you want :)

Peter, you don't need a GS for big tank range, just an MTS Enduro :D
For the first time in 10 years I don't get nervous at anything less than 260 miles now :)
If the new V4 ended up with a usable tank range when cracking on similar to the 1200DVT that would be fine. If I had fuel light on / need to be looking for fuel at anything before 130 miles (so a max 150-170 to dry) I would have to think twice about buying it.

tzoykas, the Enduro is not so bad, it certainly cracks on the same, despite being taller & wider, and having narrower tyres.
Imo one of the best looking bikes of this style is the honda africa twin.

  9. I agree although personally I find the Enduro a much prettier bike than the Africa Twin. It's just that I cannot find a reason for buying a bike that is heavier, with narrower tires if I am going to be using it only on pavement.

  10. I preferred the Enduro to the standard DVT Mutley. I thought the standard DVT was souless. Preferred my 11plate.

  11. Because I am a short ass. - The same low seat height - or lower - more comfortable seat - better fitting seat - with the adjustment - so that it looks better.

  12. To be honest, after 2 Multistradas, lots of miles and places visited and loads of fun it’s time for me to try something different, maybe a bit smaller and lighter and cheaper to own.

I looked at the 950 version but it makes no sense on any level. It weighs the same as the 1260, has 40bhp less and isn’t cheap. There are better bikes out there, doing the same thing better, for less money.

  13. That’s my concern. I don’t necessarily use mine for it’s intended purpose, more of a back roads weekend bike.

I want comfort plus I’m 6’ 5” (steady girls), so sportsbikes don’t make any sense.

I’m interested in the V4 but extra weight would temper that.

  14. All that extra tech will have a weight penalty.

  15. I wonder how you could get more power out of it...
De-cat pipe, K&N filters and a quick Dyno....
A Pikes Peak version may get my money....

  16. we don't buy bikes to worry about costs, my car does more miles to the gallon than my bike,Ducati ownership is never cheap, FACT:bucktooth:
Fun factor is what we pay for.

  17. Some of us have other things and people to consider too.

I think i have done the Multi thing anyway now. Time for something a bit different.

  19. It won't be a Ducati. Not a new one anyway.

The only bike in the current range that appeals to me is the new Hypermotard and it's a bit too one dimensional for what I want it for.

  20. I would love a V4, when compared to Multi competition like the XR and SD GT the multistrada is under powered.
