  2. I've never heard of a snapped chain on a road bike; well not one that was well looked after.
It's worth fitting an engine protector at the small sprocket end if you are going to continue that "care and maintenance" regime.

  3. Bit of bad luck there, at least you weren’t too far from home though eh.
Crud catcher is finding it’s way to you as we speak.
Time to get the swarfega out!

  4. Don't order a OEM one, get a good branded one. It's the same with bmw they tend to use adaquate chains so they stretch & snap.

  5. This ^^^ this LOTS, the OE ones are made of knicker elastic, buy a decent after market one, same with the sprockets, you can get SuperSrox tri metal rears for about £100 and Esjot fronts for about £20

  6. Would you have a link to where one can get them please Aircon?

  7. Any links to the protector??

I once had a chain snap on a Suzuki, made a real mess of the casing and had to have it welded up.

  9. I think the GT380 was way down on BHP and Torque compared to the mighty Mutley.... :D
My comment was meant in jest, as the Mutley has one of the most complicated and discussed method of chain adjustment measurement.

  10. D.I.D is sound as a pound; Japanese steel.

  11. I've had 2 go. One was my fault and one was a freak. The my fault one was a weird situation where I needed to let a new chain stretch before taking a link out as I didn't have the adjustment in the swingarm. Chain got too long before I took the link and it jumped

  12. I've only adjusted mine once, well twice of you count the second time as it was too tight.

I set it to the 38-40mm (off the top of my head) and set off for a ride. I could hear a slight whine and so stopped and felt the temperature of the chain. It was hot

Went back home and added some slack. Currently run it around 42mm and it seems happy at that. I read an american dealership also found the factory settings too tight.

  13. D.I.D best chains ever made...seem to last 30,000+ miles with waxing every 400 miles.

  16. Top tip. Don't ask your wife to sit on the bike while you check the chain because ”you need something heavy”

  17. The only one I've ever heard of was on a zzr 1100 which locked the back wheel up in the fast lane of the M1
Lucky to get away with that one.
