Help Me Find New Music.

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by Alan williams, Jul 15, 2019.

  1. I know there are a few music threads here but I’m hoping to find some new bands / artists to listen to, particularly during my two hours in a car most days.

I like a variety of genres and always willing to give anything a listen.

So, anyone got some good suggestions ?

Also how do you go about finding new stuff,
    Spotify ?
    Deezer ?
Any decent DAB radio stations ?

  2. I used to listen on DAB, Absolute 70's but now internet only it seems a lot are going that way but i have found Magic Soul on DAB :upyeah:

  8. Our choice at work is Radio 6 Music DAB, they play quite an eclectic mix with stuff from new bands, especially around the music festival season.
Having said that it’s lost some of its mojo by moving Mark Radcliffe and Stuart Mconie to the Saturday morning slot and replacing them with Shaun Kevaney, who’s a bit of a bell end.
All the same give it a go.

  11. I would recommend last.fm

It’s £3 a month or you can sign up annually.

Learns what type of music you like and is constantly streaming then every now and then throws a curve ball in.

You will discover lots of artists you’ve never heard of before.

Not used it for a while, but worth a try even if only for 1 month, at £3 what’s to lose :)

  12. More fun!

  13. Sounds worth a go thank you.

One of my daughters has Spotify - I’ve not tried it properly but not sure it’s a good way of finding different music.

I do like ‘different’ music, quite into gogol bordello at the moment.

  14. Thank you, I did have a quick google and listened to a couple of tracks, added to the list of must listen to more.

    Do like female vocalists.

  15. I love this ^^^ song.

The final track on the album, "Hold Your Ferret Aloft", promises much but ultimately, is merely adequate.

  16. Do any of the music apps / services let you download an album and listen to it for limited time, then buy if you like it.

  17. Radio X. Only after gobshyte Moyles has finished in the morning.

  18. Yea, trouble is he’s on when I’m going to work, haven’t tried it on way home yet though

  19. Spotify, Apple music and Amazon music are all good for finding new music.

After the setup on Apple it'll immediately pick out some similar artists and genres from sections you make, as will the others.

At the bottom of each album or play list they'll all recommend more artists.

Honestly I can't see a better method for doing what you want to do

Each have a sign up no strings attached offer, Amazon music (unlimited) is only 99p for 4 months at the moment if you're a prime member, pretty sure apple offer 3 months free and so do Spotify.

If you're not amazon's prime then give apple music a go for 3 months free, you'll be more than catered for

In fact here you go https://www.apple.com/uk/apple-music/features/
