Termis Say ‘race Only’

Discussion in 'Clothing, Gadgets & Equipment' started by dubcat, Jul 19, 2019.

  1. Probably a separate thread but staying away from Loomies is probably a good start.. tbh I stay away from most bike meets because of the few d*ck heads that just wreck it for the rest... Sorry to be blunt, means I also miss out on meeting and chatting to a lot of other nice people unfortunately.

Ref the pipes, you could cover it and I don't believe the police will be able to remove it, that said they aren't stupid and know a 45mm straight through pipe when they see it! chances are they are well aware it isn't quiet so personally I would stick to plan A and ride sensibly and as others have said be completely and utterly respectful and honest with them.

I could be wrong but I think in circumstances of a minor traffic infringement or even just a routine stop if you act accordingly the worst you might get is a rectification notice requiring you to re-MOT the bike.

on the older bikes, even the 1098 series to an extent the standard pipes are still actually quite loud, they lack bass though and are heavy and add heat. That said if you are worried I personally don't think on a 996/748 series bike there is shed loads of power gained with open pipes unless it's really well set up.

  2. Set up a new meeting area for a while and keep away from hot spots
If you go there then you take your chances

  3. A quick polish will remove said 'race use only' from the bands but 916 Termis have it stamped on the top of the front exhaust band, meaning it's only visible if you remove the cans or (if even possible with cans in situ?) the undertray...

  4. Loomies = grief.
Haven’t been for years and doubt I’ll ever go back, the roads there seem to be easy pickings for the police.
I know this first hand :(

  5. I didn’t know this - will probably stay clear now.

  6. You waste your time polishing it out.
Also they don't do you for loud cans
If they are going after you for your exhaust it's because they are not stamped with the euro ce marks

  8. New meeting spot found! It’s this quiet little nature spot - it’s called box hill. Keep it to yourself though. Don’t want the place crawling with cops.

  9. Sorry to hear this OITO.

It would be good to confirm status of Loomies parking area - i.e. - Private or Public, see below.

The organiser of the Ducati attendance at the Groombridge shows a few years ago was stopped and alledgedly successfully prosecuted for loud exhausts less than 5 minutes after departing the show but I don't know how the officer achieved this. I am guessing that it has to be linked with disturbing the peace or similar.
as far as I know Ryka's bike/car park at the bottom of Boxhill is still a private park, the previous proprietor would immediately approach Police to remind them of this if seen to be 'policing' vehicles parked up/engine turned off. Obviously any vehicles pursued that ended up at the park would be a different matter.
