Track Slag Transportation

Discussion in 'Trackdays & Rider Skills' started by Bondy7070, Jul 21, 2019.

  1. I paid less than your top end budget. Mine has slightly higher miles but its a van, they go forever if looked after. I went for spec over mileage. Pulled like a train when I test drove it. Gearbox felt tight. I'll map it before long and looking at either a set of 19's or 20's
Go test drive a few and see what suits you best. I like the transporters but they fetch higher prices and weigh in at 300kgs more than the pug, transit custom would have been my second choice
The pug fits my bike in nicely, head room is just enough to not have me doubled over when pushing the bike in. Pulls decent MPG. Its a good enough size to be able to fit in a carpark space in supermarket carparks etc. The reversing camera and parking sensors make life easier.
The expert is also badged up as Toyota Proace, Citroen dispatch, they were a joint venture.

  2. So you reckon 80 odd k isn't a drama on a van?

  3. I don’t think so tbh, Mileage on my track bike doesn’t bother me either However my car has mega low miles for age. Was looking at eBay last week and some old ambulances have 450k miles and they are still going.

  4. A few years ago I bought a 2004 transit with 215000 miles on it , ran it for 3 years without a single problem then sold it for more than i paid, the 2008 model was a different story though

  12. I agree with cookster, maybe a little small when you load up all the other stuff. Be cautious with headroom, although the bike may fit, remember you have to get in to push the bike also

  13. Must admit the Vivaro’s are hard to beat. I’ve just picked up a brand new Vito to replace the vito I got last year, new. The vito’s engine and finishing touches are miles ahead of the vivaro’s but their comfyness makes long drives easier to cope with. The important bit though, get one of these bike supports or similar made up. Worth it with all the time you’ll save loading and unloading the bike and being able to plough on knowing the bike isn’t shifting.

  14. I have a friend with a Toyota HiAce that has 1.6 million kms (1 M miles), it has only ever needed service items, however he sticks to the service schedule religiously. It is a 3L Diesel 5spd manual, not fast or that comfy, it's like riding in a tin can but it does the job well.
