Sad news,RIP Rutger. May 18th 1986 I went to watch The Hitcher with some mates on the bikes. There was a YPVS, RG250, MBX125 and my RD125. Came out after the film and some bastard had nicked my RD, none of the other bikes were touched!! This was 3 days after my 17th birthday!! All 3 of the other bikes were destroyed within a year, I’ve always looked at Rutger as a jinx!
Menacing when he pulled that lass apart with his truck in The Hitcher. I would never have thought he was 75. I guess the 80’s seem closer to me than in reality.
He was chosen for the Guinness advert, not for his coolness, but because he looked like a pint of Guinness when dressed in black. True story. He was very cool though.
