1299 Is It Possible To Remove This Without

Discussion in 'Panigale' started by PeteKeys, Aug 8, 2019.

  1. Quick question.

I am replacing the rear exhaust manifold as its broken but want to take the opportunity to clean up all the pipes

Is it possible to remove the y piece that connects front and rear manifolds without removing the front manifold? Everything is loose but it won't quite come out due to lack of space on the swing arm .. its really close just...any tricks to get it off?

  2. If you loosen the front manifold from the heads you might.
WD 40 and a rubber mallet.

  3. Easiest way is just to remove the front manifold nuts and you will have enough slack to remove either both front downpipe or Y-piece. Sincerely hope you have more than just a block under your sump holding the bike up. Looks a little precarious to me. You would be better off picking up from the swingarm pivot points.

  4. lol yep thanks . Its on front and rear axle stands but I tried jacking up a bit on the sump to see if changing the swing arm angle gate more clearance in anyway .. but doesn't appear to

  5. i would agree with Topo's points above..
if you try to take a short cut it can take longer, and you and end up causing damage as its a bit tight..
put a cardboard piece ( Kellogg's box is fine) in between the lower radiator and the exhaust to prevent hitting it and damaging the fins. and drop the front off of the header studs, and then you will find you have a lot more room.
