Waterproof Handlebar Bags & Givi V47 Liners

Discussion in 'Clothing, Gadgets & Equipment' started by damodici, Aug 12, 2019.

  1. I wondered whether anyone had used a waterproof, yet cheap handlebar bag, something like this Givi T516 - https://www.motocard.com/en/bags/givi-t516.aspx

I used to own a Kriega R3 but just can't get on with the whole fanny pack thing, we're not all as naturally blessed like chiz

Wunderlich has a handlebar bag but it's a bit pricey at €79 for something I just want to use during this Spanish / France trip that's lined up, although it looks pretty good -

I just want something for toll money, phone, passport, those kinda things. Cheap and cheerful but waterproof ideally.

Also does anyone happen to have a Givi V47 and an inner bag they've used?

I used to have a nice Ducati branded inner bag for the top box I used on the multi but that's long gone. Whenever I search for a V47 inner bag the Givi T502 comes up, but a lot of reviews seem to suggest it's a bit small within the V47 and doesn't make best use of the size.

If that's my only option then no worries, just thought I'd ask

  2. What about a leg bag?

  3. Saucy, i like it:upyeah:

  4. Good option but I fear that'd annoy me after a while, not because in that specific colour it reminds me of Roger Moores suit in Octopussy, but because it'd be dangling round my neck.

The idea of the handlebar bag is so its off me with stuff out of my pockets, but within easy reach when i get to toll booths etc

Octopussy though, what a great film

  5. I’m not soo sure how “waterproof” all of those are.

I had a similar dilemma this spring. In the end opted for the smallest option https://kriega.com/accessories-1/harness-pocket

It isn’t waterproof either (shower proof) but I used it for toll money and instant access stuff.

The newer models (xl) will probably fit a modern smart phone but intended to keep my phone/wallet/passport in my leathers.

  6. Wonder if that xl would attach to the bars using the straps on the underneath?

  7. THe standard one fits around my bars fine.

In normal street riding, it houses:
    ID card
    Helmet lock
    Spare ear plugs
    Visor spray
    Cloth
    2x charging cables (separately waterproofed)

  9. What about a small tank bag?

  10. The photos seem to make it look quite bulbous but it is quite discreet.

  11. Nice one, that might do the trick.

So is that attached securely using the webbing straps (off white) and also the velcro bit?

Would that small one fit in a passport and phone?

  12. Yeah considered that but it's not ideal as the small ones that attach to the fuel cap are again pricey for what they are, and kinda get in the way when filling up, looks like this kriega thing might do the trick judging by the pictures

  13. I just undo my zip, reach in, pull it out and then pay the girl (I don't like the machines). You have to have an easy to open jacket...

Mine sits inside my jacket pocket so it doesn't swing about, theres no weight & I can feel the phone vibrate if someone calls.

I don't mind a bit of beige myself!

  14. Yeah all straps go around bars. The fat one between the clamp, which stops it rotating (other models may vary) and the 2 outside strap around the bars.

The original model (as shown) fits a passport and my phone (small). But I would probably go for the XL to be safe. As in the original it is a little snug on the passport and I would probably want to have space to fit in an ortlieb waterproof wallet for the passport.

  15. The clip on Givi tank back is pretty good on an MTS for passports etc. The Wunderlich handlebar bag is great but not 100% waterproof. Get one used off that eBay.

  16. Cheers gents, some good ideas here :upyeah:

I might get a couple of bits on order from somewhere that takes returns and see what I can work with :punch:
