Phone Holder Recommendations

Discussion in 'Clothing, Gadgets & Equipment' started by Mac, Aug 14, 2019.

  1. Anybody got any phone holder recommendations, please?

The Quadlock system looks good but is quite pricey.

  2. Pricey, but worth it

  3. quadlock:upyeah:

  4. If you need a waterproof case too, have a look on eBay. It’s full of them.

I have three, all worked perfectly well.

  5. OK, thanks. Should have said I'm not paying £82 for a phone holder. Now looking at the Oxford Products one for £30.

  6. Quad lock here too. Have it on the bike, in the car and got my wife a case so her phone can go in the car too.

I don't use waterproof cases as my phone is new enough to not need one. One downside to being new though is OLED or AMOLED screen burn. I did a week away with a lot of driving and having Waze constantly open has burnt two of the symbols into my phone (the current road speed symbol and the orange 'mark hazard' button.

  7. Bottom of my screen, one circle on the left and one on the right.

Don't use your phone for too long if using Waze or other apps that display static, strong colours.

  8. you're not checking DucatiForum often enough on long drives...

  9. I would but if posts about sprocket removal can reach 400 posts, I'm afraid I would miss my turn off :p

  11. Quadlock is expensive, but an amazing system. I use it to run, cycle, motorbike and in the car/van .... IMO well worth the premium.

  12. I use the SP Connect Mount and case. Moved it from bike to bike and love it. Think I paid around £80

  13. I have used the Ram X Grip for about 5 years on different bikes. Never had an issue normally just use my normal case but works with Waterproof cases on iPhone 6,7,8,x. CET. Also use Ram mounts for GoPro too. Again it’s not cheap but if you buy original stuff quality is excellent.

  14. I know a couple of folk who use the Quad Lock and they really like it but dedicated cases are only available for the iPhone, Samsung Galaxy or Google Pixel. There is a universal attachment you can stick on to the back of your own case, just make sure the case has a nice tight hold of your moby! o_O

I've got a Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact so I went with the Ram X mount like Buckers. It is kind of expensive once you buy the phone holder, an extension arm (which gives you more freedom to position your phone) and a means of attaching the arm to your bike (I went with the threaded ball adapter that replaced one of the bolts in my Monster 695 handlebar clamp). The Ram X system certainly gives you plenty of mounting/positioning options but it's maybe a bit more of a fiddle to attach/remove your phone compared to the Quad Lock, assuming you are also using the Ram X's rubber strap that provides additional security to your phone.
