  1. I feel whatever the is right time for Rossi to leave and only he can really know and feel when exactly that is, the void left behind will be not so much felt for his lack of presence on the grid but the attention he brings to the sport and in maintaining it's profile, something, he as a marketable asset, has done year in year out. Whether or not someone else can fill those shoes on AND off track remains to be seen. The only comparable person was Sheene. Amiable, approachable, a gift to work with for the media and a rounded individual.

  2. What Guy's actually doing is explaining that you don't have to win in the sport you embody... or in his case, even like it.

  3. No... If Rossi retires I'll feel old!
Its coming though, and its not far off.
Motogp will survive though. Theres lots of talent there now on decent bikes.
It'll be the end of an era...
The very last of the rockstar riders.

  4. A fair comment but ultimately history will only remember results?
    Time will tell I'm sure.
One thing for certain the sport will be the biggest loser when he does go.

  5. Personally I think the interest in Moto GP will decline when Rossi retires similar to what happened when Fogarty Baylis and Edwards all retired in a short time WSB hasn't ever really recovered
Rea never raised the amount of excitement that Fogarty generated
I was one of the 100 000 at Brands to see Fogarty race

  6. Unfortunately I agree..
I think the blow will be softened slightly by him still being in the paddock with his team's and academy lads, but it won't be the same for sure..
There is definitely plenty of talent in the GP these days but apart from miller maybe, no stand out personalities... I'll still watch every race though, as will the non Rossi fans ( so about 50% of the fans!)

  7. Fogarty has maintained his legacy like a temple... :joy:

  8. Don't be silly... new class incoming MotoVeteran...

Doohan, Bayliss, Rossi, Ago... Guy Martin... all on two-stroke 500s

  10. Rea could never have had that impact. He ran around on lasts last century's firehydrent for years before making a decent career move.
Wsb's problem is that it doesn't know what it wants to be. Race bikes with stupid stickers for lights?? Really? I got bored of it.
I'm optimistic for motogp because the action can still entertain, even without Rossi performing.
Cal and Miller are the only others with any balls to say it like it is though.

  11. Easily. Very different times, competition, events.

  12. Is martin there to make tea for the guys that can actually race at a high level?

    Asking for a friend ;)

  13. It’s just a boring event! Two race classes?! What’s that all about!! No one cares about the 300 nonsense thing, with about 80 kids on slow bikes fighting out for god knows what....

  14. I have been told he doesn't make a very good cup of tea, a friend did some work for him and expected great things that were not delivered.

  15. He's amusing, likeable and sometimes funny - I don't think he would make a good cup of tea, brain is too busy with stuff to concentrate that long on tea

  16. No surprise, he puts the milk in first....
No way to make a brew, makes it take more like horlicks!

  17. All depends on whether you employ a teapot or just a teabag!

  18. Did someone mention Tea Bagging:p

  19. Or Bilbo Bagging?

  20. I hope when rossi retires he announces it at the start of the season so if you choose you can go see him a final time at a local gp.
