Servicing

Discussion in 'Supersport (2016 onwards)' started by BadBoyR, Nov 22, 2018.

  1. When is the next service due on this bike after the initial run in?

Should it get serviced every year?

  2. The first or running in service is at 600 miles or 6 months from the date of purchase whichever comes first. The second service then falls on the first anniversary of your purchase so at 12 months or 9000 miles whichever comes first, not 12 months after the running in service. Andy

  3. Excellent, will take the local dealer up on their service offer then.

  4. For the warranty period, it makes sense to get the bike serviced by your dealer. After that it’s up to you what you do but your choice will have consequences. Resetting the service indicator seems to be the biggest ball ache if you go outside the dealer or specialist route. There is also the dealer network good will that some dealers seem to give their regular customers for out of warranty repairs. Swings and roundabouts mate. Cheers. Andy

  5. Your service light will come on 12 months after your 600 mile service. That's what my dealer said and he was correct.

  6. When I had the 600ml service on my DVT the dealer told me 12 months from the date of the service not vehicle registration

  7. Yip, booked in for then now :)

  8. What did people get charged for their 1st yearly service. Mines in next week and they said £180 which I thought was steep for basically an oil and filter.

  9. That's very reasonable. Mine was £277 for the 12 month service - £56 parts, £175 labour + vat on the total. I grudge the labour charge for something I could have done myself in a couple of hours and I had to wait 4 1/2 hours for it to be done.

  10. £196.52 inc vat for me.

£100.01 for labour (1.5hrs), £44.68 for oil, oil cartridge, minor sundries and vat the rest.

  11. So £180 isn’t too bad then. Years since I had a service done. Last one was nearly £1k at Ducati Glasgow on a 748 R !

They are checking my gear lever and the clutch adjustment bulletin.
Cannot remember seeing my service light on yet.

  12. Bike is now serviced at a cost of £174. They carried out the clutch bulletin on the clutch and it does seem easier to get into neutral and the clutch does not appear to be like an on/off switch quite as much.
    Nothing else needed.

  13. This is what I was told too, and what I followed when my service indicator came on 12 months after the 600 mile service.

I find it slightly annoying as, if you follow the 12 month interval religiously thereafter it means future services will not coincide with MoTs once they become due.

  14. £216 (inc VAT) which is reasonable for a main London dealer.

  15. If you have the bike serviced before the light comes on can the dealer reset the indicator so it doesn’t come on on the previous due date?
