I don't know a lot about bearings apart from ideally using Needle Rollers to replace the Std OEM stuff, so I need some advice as struggling to get a fit with the std 35mm stem. A 1098 steerer needs a 35mm ID bearing. And a 900 SS needs a 52MM OD bearing, but there ain't no 35/52 needle rollers. So, is it safe to use either of the following? 35x52x12 Thrust Bearing with 3mm of spacers https://simplybearings.co.uk/shop/p...ust-Ball-Bearing-35x52x12mm/product_info.html 35x52x12 Axial Deep Groove Ball Bearing with 3mm of spacers https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/ball-bearings/1741008/ The alternative is to mess around with different stems and bearings, but would prefer to keep things simple! Thoughts?
D'oh, looking at the spec sheets and uses, they ain't gonna work. Both these bearings take load up and down only, so won't like horizontal forces. Only other options would be from mountain bikes or air conditioning so thinking I'm out of luck. Be good to see how people have done this conversion before! Assuming it needs machined stems....
