748 R&g Tank Traction Grips

Discussion in '748 / 916 / 996 / 998' started by CarloL, Aug 16, 2019.

  1. If these are any think like the 899 one's I would not bother, never stuck properly and when removed they dumped all the glue on the tank and was a right pig to get off.

  2. As simmytt says if they are like the rest of the range I wouldn’t bother. I got a set for my 959 and despite spending ages applying them correctly they peeled and bubbled over night. Took them off and spent ages cleaning the glue off the tank! Put on a set of stomp grips ( I think!) and they’ve been fine.

  3. Thanks for the heads up

  4. They look good IMO (see pic - not my bike) and traction against denim is better than stomp grip, but inferior against leather. As to removal of the glue, it's odd that people say it doesn't stick but is hard to remove.

It's an adhesive FFS, polish does the job fine with a bit of patience.

  5. Clear Stomp Grips are the industry standard in my garage.

  6. Mine too as I only wear leathers on the 851. But they give no grip against pants other than leather. The smooth finish means denim jeans or textile pants just slip on them.

The R&G's have a rougher finish which works for street application. I wouldn't use them for track so it horses for courses.

  7. Hair drier to remove them then soak the glue with a rag and petrol, it needs to soften up before you wipe it and it should not need any effort if the glue has been softened enough so no scratches, some glues come off better with polish or wd40. New pads should be stuck down warm onto a clean and wax free paint surface
