750 & 900ss ..are The Tank And Fairings The Same Size?

Discussion in 'Supersport (1974-2007)' started by b4bertie, Aug 21, 2019.

  1. Been considering a project 750ss which apparently has a good tank and fairings which I'm after for my 900ss.... before I travel to see it and possibly make an offer I thought I'd check that they are they the same size/fitment? My 900 is 1992 and the 750 is 1995.
Also, is most of the ancillary equipment the same on both bikes?
    Thanks in advance
    Pete

  2. I think Nelly at Cornerspeed has some new old stock fairings, he had them a year or so ago, they may have gone by now though.

  5. Yeah the tanks and fairings are the same across all models... There are some *year* specific changes such as tank breather, fairing vents and screen profile differences. But you can interchange freely (unless you have a late 900 with a temperature gauge - you'll need the more rounded profile screen on those bikes for clearance of the clocks).

  6. Your 92 might have a small breather tank, the late one will have a large breather.

Your early 900 fairings will be "smooth" sided and the 95 should be the same. You might find the 95 oil cooler is mounted higher (can't remember when they changed) and you might find that the 95 has oil warmed carbs.

Most significant is that the 750 will be a wet clutch model and will have 5 speed box rather than 6. The bottom end is common with other models but not the 900. Swinging arm likely steel rather than alloy on the 750 and non adjustable forks.
