Junk Gsx750r 1986 Project

Discussion in 'Other Bikes' started by El Vikingo Tropical, Aug 23, 2019.

  1. Hi

I have bought my first Suzuki in 35 years (My last one was a Katana 1100 at eighteen)

The bike has been kept at a storage close to the sea in the harbour at Gran Canaria for 12 years and is very rusty..

The good thing is that I have time, space and enough skills to take care of this little bike, but one thing's for sure its wont be done in a couple of weekends

  3. I needed + one year to convince the previous owner to sell it to me,
Telling him “Sell me the bike”
    Owner “No”
Every week, until he went very bored of me and sold it:)

This bike have came with some surprises, one of them was that it had a squatter,

As I don’t se nothing without my glasses, What I thought was a pice of carton was a fat rat.

Now officially i have a say what I bought bike with RATLOOK

  4. I hope it was cheap :bucktooth: like free o_O

  5. Gracias!

Once at home I tryed to get out the rat out that was stuck between the engine and the swingarm without success, As I realise that it was impossible without taking of the swingarm I pored 1.5ltr of bleach over the bike as it was just to awful to work on with the rat but then it smelled even more.
So the bike was staying outside my garage before cleaning everything well.

Now it was ready for rebuild

  6. One thing for sure, I won’t make money on this one:mask:
Everything was just rusty and in bad condition.
But make this bike is just a pleasure (except for the rat) and a challenge

  9. The fuel tank has some rust inside so I will handle it away for a ceramic interior treatment.
One good thing was that the bike came with a rear Öhlins in good shape.
I sodablasted the engine before it was pulled down to parts, same thing was done with a lot of other items.

  11. I am also doing one a 1994 model with 6800 miles on clock. Stored for 19years in a dry garage after owner past away. His wife just kept it until recently when I purchased it. Fortunately it is in pretty good shape, or was till I gutted it & polished the frame & swing arm. Now it's been sat nearly 2 years on my bike stand. That's what you get for buying a Multi. No time for anything else. Hope all goes well & look forward to your pictures of progress.
