Best Roads From The Hook Into Germany

Discussion in 'Touring' started by spanish, Aug 27, 2019.

  1. First bike trip to Germany in two weeks and, depending on weather, either riding the north coast towards the Polish border or heading south-Moselle and onwards perhaps.

No experience of the ferry into the Hook of Holland and any advice about the best routes out of the port and across Holland ( least traffic, scenery etc) would be really welcomed- either northeast or south east.

Lots of experience in Spain and France. Hope we will enjoy Germany. Probably a bit weather dependant as we camp.

  2. We completed the wettest NC500 in July and are already planning a drier trip next year!
We are planning to go go Munich for a few days with stops on the way and back. Current stops include Trier, Luxemburg and Titisee (really). I’ll be keeping a close eye on your thread to see what advice you get.

  3. If I were you I would use the motorways past Eindhoven towards Mastricht and start on the normal roads from there. Straight into the Eifel hills or the Ardennes.

  4. The best thing about Holland is the road out of it if you are on a bike, as above get on the motorway as soon as possible.
If you are heading towards the Eifel or Nurburgring head towards Aachen then get on the B258.

  5. Hi myself and my wife have just rode from IJmuiden to Heidelberg motorway all the way hot hot and now tomorrow riding to Baden Baden then through the Black Forest, we have nothing booked but possibly going down to lake Como and northern Italy.

  6. Thanks all for that. If we head south the B258 will be great.
We had thought of riding along the Baltic coast towards the Polish border if the weather is good.. any comment on best route from the Hook towards Hamburg and beyond.
