Just had a stage 1fork conversion, excellent, nice bunch of blokes too, I have noted that when slowing there is a definite "wobble" have been altering the 16 click steering damper but no found a setting to calm it down. has a new intron shock on rear but its basic so may revert back to the Showa and have Kais do some magic on that, any thoughts as too the slow speed wobble?
Can you give me some more info on when you slow down please? Is it when you brake hard or soft? Is it at all speeds? Have you adjusted the rear shock at all?
Braking is when it happens and there seems to be a slight wobble when decelerating rear shock is set up as standard at speed it seems fine until coming off the gas or braking
Warped disc? Something a litle loose? Wheel not lines up 100%? Assume you mean wobbles at the front..
If that is the case it sounds like you need to add more rebound on the rear shock, not enough causes a high frequency headshake which is what you are experiencing
The Nitron shock is far better than the standard Showa units so stick with it and try some minor adjustments first.
Also seeing as you have re-valved the front shocks this would show up on a unit that is in standard setting.
Thanks gents I will look at all the advice and go from there, appreciated will let you know how it goes
will be back in UK tomorrow and will try the adjustments on the Nitron shock, fingers crossed the fella in Kais said that the standard Showa is better than the standard Nitron I have on it....that why I mentioned putting the showa back on and having it tweaked .... Must admit I always thought the Nitrons were good, well from what I read, first time ever had one on a bike!! I am now intrigued as to the statement about the showa being better than the Nitron...is it personal taste or is there really a quality issue and an after market shock not being all its cracked up to be?? in fairness it is the basic shock (nitron) so now I am wondering if it was a waste of over 300 pounds??
Somewhat bemused by this thread!! You have just had the forks stripped and rebuilt, then put it back together. I'm assuming that this phenomenon did not exhibit this tendency prior to this work being done. So it just seems logical that something is amiss at the front end, either in the forks or the reassembly of the front end.
i will get her checked over independently, i am by my own admission a complete duffer at the mechanics of the thing !! it wasn't feeling that way before the stage 1 conversion but to be fair before i rant at Kais i will see if it is anything else effecting it...thats fair I think??
Why not just take it back to Kais and ask them to check things out again speak to Andy White who owns Kais. I know them very well, they have a very good reputation. If they have made a mistake let them put it right.
Came back to UK yesterday clicked the damping up +2 seems to be sorted, thanks for the ad advice happy with kais top job, no complaints
