I will take one for the team and try this ..... as soon as i can figure out how to get the creosote off the grass
talking of stripes, we have taken to just cutting paths through it and leaving the rest to go wild, fire in some wild flower seeds into the wild bits and it looks braw. saves energy and the bees love it. its the wife that throws in the flower seeds btw. no me. that's a bit gay for a bloke.
I have a Honda with roller that I got off flea bay for 80 10 years ago. It was a steal. When I bought it I reckon it was about 15 - 20 years old. My plan was to use it til it broke then chuck it away. In a moment of mechanical guilt I actually changed the oil, sparkler and air filter last year. I only did that as the pull start snapped and I bough a new patent part if the bay for £10ish. The thing just keeps running. Highly recommend especially after having an Atco roller mower which needed properly looking after. And cost a bloody fortune.
I have a Flymo. It's shit. You can't get within 3 inches of an edge with it so cutting around our pond is a nightmare due to the raised sleepers around it. My wife is more than a little concerned that she's married her dad, because I've really gotten into grass cutting and am eyeing up new mowers. It's just a satisfying outcome and usually have a good 5 minutes to myself just staring at the lovely cut
If only Ducati made lawnmowers theyd ..... eerr not start , require service every 3rd cut and on the plus side annoy the crap outta the neighbours
This thread has been an incredible bonding experience with you guys. Very inspiring...Tears are welling up!
