1200 DVT Multistrada, And First Ever Tour

Discussion in 'Multistrada' started by Alan Gilchrist, Sep 15, 2019.

  1. Well it's been quite a trip, 12 days, 2660miles covered, 58 hours in the saddle, most miles in one day 468, 7 countries visited, 8 mountains passes ridden, 6 laps of Nurburgring, Ducati museum visited, 2 1/2 days riding break in Venice, Black Forrest and Eifel region ridden, was advised to avoid Switzerland, God knows why, scenery and roads were second to none, and German autobahn are..... fast lol, and Multistrada didn't disappoint.
This was my first ever proper tour, and day I got back I could have set off and done it all again, I've never had a bike that could cover the miles like it, got a taste for it now, need see where I can go next year, need to spend more time in one country, Austria, Italy and Switzerland were my favourites.
Would recommend the Hotel Enzian in Landeck, Austria, bikers hotel, very friendly , and give you tips for routes to ride, definitely go back there again.

  2. Nothing wrong with swiss'lands...only plebs who don't bother researching 'the rules of the road'. An example is the eejits of 44-teeth off of y/tube. Extorting the same chav mindset of promoting avoiding swiss roads (not that many of them have actually rode in europe) because they fell fowl of breaking the speed limit by quite some margin & got rogered with a £4k fine.

Glad you had a good experience Alan, maybe throw up a picture or three!?!?

  4. When I get better internet I'll put some of the videos on YouTube

  5. Looks like you've had a fantastic ride. Was at the mountain top motorcycle museum a few weeks ago. Great collection of bikes! Pity I had the wrong kind of wheels at the time... the family car :(

  6. Sounds like a great trip, we are looking at a similar one next year.
Is that the standard screen with an aftermarket spoiler?

  7. Yes standard screen, got the spoiler off of Ebay, adjustable so easy to set up change to suit to the way your riding. I tried the spacers that some people recommend on here, but they didn't work for me.
I enjoyed the trip so much I've started to look for a trip for next year.

  8. Thanks, I know what you mean, Ive tried the spacers, a couple of different screens and still not perfect so to try a spoiler.

  9. This is one I got from Ebay,
    Item number 372696020107

  10. Perfect. that's great
    thanks Alan

  11. Great news Alan. Now on the next trip you have to keep us all posted every day:upyeah:.

Also, don’t forget WDW is on next July, you could arrange a trip around that.

  16. Sounds like a good trip. You’ve whet my appetite.

I’m hoping next year is going to be a good year for touring and that could be one of them.

  17. Cant recommends it enough, I only had 2 small rain showers while time I was away, and they were both at end of the day so didn't really effect me.
And Stelvio pass is a must, always wanted to ride it, and was disappionted

  18. Presumably you meant .....not....?

Ps, have you done the Healy Pass, Beara Peninsula. On a fine day it gives the Stelvio a run for its money.
