Shi*e Work On Insurance Repair - Sorted

Discussion in 'Ducati General Discussion' started by TelRobinson, Sep 15, 2019.

  1. Steady, steady, it wasn’t me who did those repairs. They’re far too good:).

Here’s my first attempt at a panel repair below:(, nothing a good rub down can’t fix:upyeah:.

I tend to stick to sprockets these days:confused:

  2. @final_edition I called them and started to rattle off the list of issues, but I think the list and detail got a bit too much.

I explained that I won't be dealing with their repair agent and won't be discussing any repairs with them.

My insurers are going to send out an engineer to assess the bike with me present and go from there. If the work gets the go ahead once i've got quotes, I told them I will be using my own garage(s) to get the bike back up to scratch.

Hopefully hear back soon from their engineer to see what he says

  9. With those pictures I'd be very surprised if any assessor didn't see the work close up and say sorry. Good luck

  10. I have never known any repairer fix plastic panels, they always replace them. A tank ding maybe but not on body panels.
Who is the insurer, did I miss that ?

  11. The insurer is Ageas. I had an email from them this afternoon saying they had instructed an Engineer and he/she will be in contact within 3 business days. I’m pleased they’re on the ball so far with it

  12. They have codes to adhere to so when it comes to this sort of thing, they are usually on the ball

  13. If me, I would go get a written quote to put everything right correctly. Get the assessor round, hear what the insurance say. Insist the shite work is rectified by your chosen specialist. If they say no I’d go straight to small claims!

  14. I’ll wait and see what the engineer thinks first, but I’ve been over it with a fine tooth comb tonight and found more bits which is shit. After the bits I’ve found, I don’t want to be riding it, so it’ll have to go by van if it’s going anywhere now :-(

  15. Have you got some good pre accident pictures to show them?

  16. I’ve got more photos of the bike than I have of my kids!

When I was taking the bike apart to take the engine out, I took so many pics to make sure everything went back where it was supposed to, so should cover everything.

  18. @Itsamonster Brilliant, thanks!

I’ve had a voicemail from my insurers’ engineer wanting to have a look at the bike tomorrow late morning, so hoping I can get back in time to meet him

  19. 'Water under the bridge' I accept but I was under the impression that you are not under any obligation to use an insurers suggested repairer. They may go to some lengths to convince you otherwise and you may not qualify for a loan bike or other apparent benefits whilst yours is being worked on. However, if using somewhere of your choosing and the repair is not satisfactory you would be on your own in dealing with the repairer you appointed.

Maybe the law has changed in their favour and they can now dictate who does the work. These tend to be centralised Jack of all trades places that possibly do cars as well.
