In for a service today and MOT. I'm in an MOT-ing frenzy this week. 200 miles since the last one, so back off.
Just clicked onto 30,000km yesterday. I bought it new in 2011 and mainly just use it for work, although I have done a few Euro trips on it.
I think you can pick them up for about £20 in Aldi / Lidl etc. It just depends when they have them in.
Apart from the usual piss taking, it does look like a fun machine and well used I always liked the old Vespa's and Lambretta's with the side covers removed (to increase speed of course)
When I was in Andorra couple of months ago, this scooter was one of many bikes dotted around the hotel foyers...
I think robbo just painted it red because he has ducati's, it's actually a big cannister of air to blow the dust off the bikes
The Desmosedici came in 2 versions Team version - White stripes on the fairing, plain red seat unit Rosso version - Plain red fairing, white number board on the tail unit. Both are identical apart from the clothes and all the exhausts exit on top of the tail unit. There were approx. 1/2 the number of Rosso versions made to Team versions. It was just personal preference as to what the customer ordered. There were 1500 numbered bikes with a headstock plaque matching the frame and I think, engine numbers. The "different" exhaust is the GP07 kit which comes with a new belly pan, seat unit with plain white number board, filter, ECU and full titanium exhaust system. The kit is approx. £7k. Visually the exhausts exit from the RHS belly pan and horizontally out of the rear of the tail unit. Kits were hard to obtain and some bikes ended up with a Rosso belly pan on a Team version bike, meaning they didn't have the lower stripe on the belly pan Here's mine with the GP07 exhaust and my tail unit which I had pin striped to look a lot neater. Oh, the hugger is a £400 option too. Tight wads.
Oh, another thing. Perceived wisdom is to go for a bike with a headstock number >1000 as they had some engine mods completed at the factory on the valve train.
