The thing with this kind of stuff is it never achieves the prices that are asked. I have various corse and RS parts which cost the earth when new but now I can’t shift them for a fraction of that. Unless someone is building a replica and wants the exact spec. parts and is also a millionaire these things are destined to just sit around looking shiny and growing old!
That does puzzle me tbh because it’s not like anyone is seriously racing 916 series bikes these days. I nearly bought a 00’s era Renault F1 carbon fibre air box the other day to use as a living room ornament. It was only £200 but I bet someone could have demanded thousands for it 10 years ago.
I think, as said, if you are building a genuine replica or restoring one, chances are you know it’s gonna cost 8k for the forks etc as only those parts will do.
Meh, I used to be one of them until I spent 95% of my money on women, fast bikes and cocaine. The rest of it I just squandered!
I have a genuine corse rear subframe that you will need for authenticity (yes really): It doesn't have the fitments for the seat lock which gives away the road based origins of yours! There's always something huh. I now want a magnesium swinging arm. Photo of the sub-frame to follow. Offers?
That’s an adaptation of a George Best quote isn’t it? It’s one of my all time faves. I was in Belfast a couple of weeks ago and they’re building a George Best themed hotel. Not sure what that means tbh - perhaps that the bar is always open and the bedsheets are covered in vomit?
