Evening all, can anyone point me in the direction of "cheaper" clutch plates for a 999 please. Looked on the bay etc, but appears to be the usual case of adding the word " Ducati" = add another £50 to the price. Thanks
Assuming the 999 is the same dry clutch as 748-998, then read here for use of Suzuki GS650 plates instead. http://ducatiforum.co.uk/f41/clutch-advice-ducati-996-a-7174/ hth, pete
Ill be trying these when my current pack has had it... Should be fine on a 999. Although there's no recent update on that post if they work properly or not!
make sure if your basket is alloy - you get alloy plates. and if basket is steel - steel plates otherwise the harder matererial will hammer the hell out of the other... ..I managed to pick up a set of racing lightweight alloy carbon/kevlar ducati plates etc on flead bay brand new for 200.00 which I thought was worth it for the genuine part / flash materials..... lol
I bought one from there about a month ago and it was like brand new - (stupid choice of photo to advertise your wares, agreed).
Cheers Pete, liking those prices a lot more, makes for an interesting read that thread. However, as per "peo's" post, any idea as to there longevity? My concern is that my 999 is used solely as a track bike. Secondly, how can I tell what the basket is made from. I'm assuming it's the original one, but not sure? Thanks all.
+1 as the starting point. Edge of the basket, as the plates may be steel. no idea of longevity, as I only came across this option after paying about £80 for a Barnett clutch pack, but will give it a go next time I need to change the clutch. pete
