Good question as I don’t know. I bought it in 2010 I’m guessing it was 2-4 years old then but little use before or since. Perhaps it’s possible to tell from the s/no? I’ll ask Beretta.
The reason I ask is because I have a Silver Pigeon 12G 686 Sporting MC, EJ, SST, Wide rib, 31" barrels, 3" chamber, Magnum Proof. I bought it in 1996 IIRC. Value about £900 as far as I can tell. I would imagine yours must be a Silver Pigeon 1, 2 or 3 which would definitely make yours worth more than mine, particularly as it is probably steel shot proofed. Yours is definitely better than mine, then....mine is only proofed 'Superior'. But I don't mind, I hate steel shot. But it may pay you to establish from the importers or Beretta whether its a 1, 2, or 3. In fact IIRC some can even be 687s as opposed to mine which is a 686. You might get more for it.
Steel Shot is mandatory in NZ when shooting within 200 metres of any waterway, or at any shooting club, modern steel shot has improved way beyond the shit that 1st came out years ago. We are shooting ducks out to 45 - 50 metres, with a very high mortality rate, I am using 2 or 3 shot 3" 36 gram loads, and either an improved cylinder or modified choke in a Beretta Extrema KO 5 shot semi-Auto.
